[check-in] 10 SONGS THAT TELL US TO TRAVEL

November 29, 2010

A great song has the ability to summarize or express an emotion or a thought that is difficult to formulate. It (ironically) leaves the listener feeling heard.

In my “Monday Check-In,” I typically reflect up on what is going on in my life through a written post. However, this week I thought I’d let some other folks do most of the talking.

These are ten songs that have inspired me to go see the world. I hope they might spark something in yourself, as well. Read more…

[sunday sermon] KIDS by BEN LEE

November 28, 2010

This Sunday’s Sermon: Australian cutie crooner Ben Lee walks in a park with his guitar, playing tribute to one of the biggest songs of 2008 — Kids by MGMT. Joggers bound past. Empty park benches await people-watchers. Ben sings to a dog. It’s like there could be nothing more natural than a guy going for a walk, strumming his guitar.

How can you sing your song wherever you might be?

“The memories fade, like looking through a fogged mirror
Decision to decisions are made and not bought
But I thought this wouldn’t hurt a lot, I guess not.”

[fun-raising] IMPROVING THE HEALTH OF MEN

November 27, 2010

I salute the mustache.

And I salute the men who are interested in shedding light on prostate cancer through growing a mustache for Movember.

Fellas, we need to be able to talk about our health, whether that’s physical, mental or emotional, and I think Movember is a step in the right direction towards opening up a conversation on personal health.

With that in mind, I wanted to get a quick conversation going.

For each person who leaves a comment on this blog post with a male health tip — physical, mental or emotional — I will donate $1 to Prostate health. All funds will be shared between the Movember fundraising efforts of two of my favorite mustachioed comrades: My friend Pascal and my brother-in-law Ryan.

Details:

– Only one comment per person will be counted.

– I’ve set a maximum donation limit of $1000 (a boy needs to save some money to eat)

– The deadline to comment is noon (9 PM EST) on Tuesday, November 30, 2010

– This is not just for men! All sexes/genders are encouraged to comment!

– Share this with your friends on Facebook and Twitter, prostates everywhere will rejoice!
