It’s Monday!

[the sound of a crowd erupting]

I’m just chillin’ at home, tucked up against my desk overlooking Boulevard Saint Laurent. I’m listening to some succulent William Fitzsimmons remixes that I bought on iTunes yesterday (Album: Derivatives). I’m loving his vocals, contrasted to the subtle beats. And I’m sipping on some Glenfiddich whisky, trying to nourish the inner alcoholic that is DESPERATE to get out.

It’s important to set achievable goals.

I had a really wonderful getaway on Friday. I drove out to Ottawa to have lunch with my dear friend Hilary. We ate at the Manx Pub, took a little walk and had tea in her 10th floor with views of the Gatineau River. Then I picked up my other dear friend Alice (and her manfriend), and drove up to Wakefield for dinner and some lovely live music at Le Mouton Noir (Black Sheep). It was pleasurable to have a mini-road trip. The great thing about driving by myself is that I get to sing like a bloody banshee, and nobody’s ears bleed.

Then I spent Saturday, living my quiet life: brunch, groceries, jogging, chatting with family and then dinner with friends. But the unique aspect was that I filmed it all [Life in a Day: Daniel Baylis]. I know, sounds boring, right? But I felt pleased with the outcome of the short film that I edited and uploaded on YouTube. It’s the sort of thing that, when I’m sixty years old, I’ll look back and think, “Wow. I’m frickin’ happy I did that.” I highly recommend it.

Anywoo, last week I had inquired about the type of content that you, my dear reader, prefer to see on this blog. The general sentiment expressed is that “writing and sharing personal experiences” are preferable over the reposting of funny images.

Great. Thanks for making me work harder.

But seriously, I’ve got a couple of editorial pieces up my sleeve, including an article called: How to be Daniel Baylis in 11 easy steps. I’m also launching an Ann Landers-esque feature where I will respond to instances where individuals in my social circle have fielded me questions to gain additional perspective to a dilemma in their lives.

It happens frequently, and I feel honored to share my thoughts.

This weekend is Divers/Cité in Montreal, and I will be spending much of the weekend hanging out with NYC blogger Joe.My.God. We’ll be checking out the various events. I pretend that it’s hard work, but I actually like playing host to my city.

Alright, I’mma stop writing now. You should go phone your mother or something. I’m going to go phone mine. She turns 60 years old today. I bet she wish she had been self-involved enough to make a video of herself at 29!

PS: If you grab the latest issue of WINQ Magazine (Summer 2010), you’ll see my scrappy face on page 108.

PSS: My Dad made it safely back to Prince George (BC), after his visit last week. He drove the 4363 KMs in three and a half days. I reemphasize the hope that craziness is not genetic.

Congrats you owe yourself $10 towards buying yourself more Glenfiddich. Me I have befuddled nightmares about the stuff. :)

P.S. I saw you in a commercial recently somewhere. I’d say where but the wine is kicking in right now. Ta, Ta for now. :)

And If I helped contribute to the more work for Daniel thing, you’re welcome.
